Afrotaxonomy

An open-source taxonomy of African music genres.

Most genre taxonomies treat African music as a handful of catch-all labels. Afrotaxonomy is an attempt to do better — a structured, hierarchical map of genres, sub-genres, and their relationships, released openly so anyone building in this space can use it.

It's as much a research project as an engineering one: tracing lineage and influence, not just assigning tags.
